Trust Us - Taka has the Best Sushi in Atlanta
I don’t want to knock MF Sushi on Ponce, but I want to clearly state my opinion that Taka Sushi (aka Taka Sushi & Passion) on Pharr Road is the best sushi house in Atlanta.
Why?
Sushi: Ever had sushi that dissolves in your mouth cause it’s so fresh? That’s Taka. Ever had incredibly inventive sushi rolls that taste so good, you have to pause after taking a bite, then hum ‘mmmm’ after each chew? That’s Taka. My favorite roll has Rice Krispies in it … crunchy Rice Krispies!
Location: Taka is located in the heart of Buckhead on Pharr Road, easily accessible to any Atlantan in Midtown, West Atlanta, shoot, even Downtown. MF is on Ponce, and really is only easily accessible to folks in Midtown, Virginia Highlands, and Downtown. There are more people near Taka, so it wins there.
Service: Taka has a bit more friendly hosts who are more accommodating, while MF’s servers tend to be quietly reserved and cold - ie. they never seem like they’re happy to see you there.
Atmosphere: I’ll give MF a leg up here - they’ve got a very cool atmosphere. Great lighting and intimate seating areas. Taka has had a few redesigns over the years, and each gets better and better, but they prefer a brighter lit, open seating plan where you feel more like a community.
Summing up, you’re not going wrong visiting either spot, as they both serve superior sushi. Weighing all the small aspects, though, Taka Sushi and Passion does come out on top.
