Y’all are welcome to come down and have a lazy time or have a rip-roaring good time in Savannah. Down-home cooking can be found almost everywhere and there is almost an endless list of enjoyable, family oriented things to do.

If you are spending time in Atlanta and just want some quick, close day trip ideas, here are a few great places you can visit.

Stone Mountain Park is a great stop for all ages. Just 16 miles from Atlanta, Stone Mountain Park has something for everyone. Take a cable car sky ride, or paddle boats on the lake. Compete against your kids on the family ropes course challenge, SkyHike. Watch a 4D movie or take a train ride around the park.

Just an hour from Atlanta, the North Georgia Canopy Tours is a 34 acre playground. Get your blood pumping on one of two zipline tours. There are practice lines available to prepare you for the 70 feet high course.

Another short drive will take you to the Wild Animal Safari. Gaze at Rhinos, Tigers, Lions, Giraffes and many more up close and personal. You can touch and feed most animals. You can drive through, or take a walkabout. Feast your eyes on a Liger, a cross between a male lion and a female tiger, and the largest of the cat family.

If this excitement is too much, relax at Callaway Gardens. Birds, butterflies and beautiful flowers await you.

Atlanta is so much more than just one of the largest metropolitan areas in the country. Atlanta has history, culture, fun, and sports. The city of Atlanta was founded in 1850 with a small group of people and has grown massively in the couple hundred years since.

Since Atlanta has such a huge population, there are many activities to do that will appeal to everyone in the family. Visit downtown Atlanta where the headquarters of one of the most popular soda makers resides. Daily tours are offered as well as free drinks.

If the family loves sports, Atlanta has plenty to offer. Almost every professional sport has a team in Atlanta, ranging from baseball – Atlanta Braves, to football – Atlanta Falcons, to basketball – Atlanta Hawks. Atlanta also allows visitors to walk through what is left of the olympic park that housed the 1996 Olympics.

For those wishing to relocate and be a part of the five million people who already call Atlanta home, real estate prices are reasonable and there are many great neighborhoods to raise a family. Crime is not a huge problem in Atlanta but if you are worried and want more information about crime rates in different neighborhoods, check out this website about atlanta home security. Come visit Atlanta and fall in love right away.

If you love everything that you’ve explored about Atlanta now might be the time to lay down some roots. If so, and you’re looking for a luxury home builder to create your dream residence, you might want to consider Toll Brothers who offer stunningly designed and built homes in Woodstock that range in price from the upper 300,000′s to the mid 600,000′s. Fortune Magazine recently named Toll Brothers as “number one in financial soundness, quality of products, and long-term investment” and the “world’s most admired homebuilder.” Sound too good to be true? When you consider the company has been building luxury residences and communities nationwide for over 40 years, you bet it’s true. The company’s Woodstock Knoll collection is nestled in a picturesque setting of trees, pastures, and a small lake that combines a sense of southern country charm with quick access to the city downtown Atlanta is only 40 minutes away. The quaint shops and restaurants in Woodstock’s revitalized downtown are within walking distance of Woodstock Knoll. Other excellent retail shopping opportunities are within 40 minutes, including Lenox Mall, North Point Mall, Galleria, and Perimeter Mall. Several challenging private and semi-private golf courses and country clubs are nearby, and adjacent to the community is J.J. Biello Park, one of Cherokee County’s newest and largest parks with 10 tennis courts, walking and jogging trails, and one of the largest children’s playgrounds in Georgia. The stunning community will offer over 300 homes in three distinct collections: the Estates, Executives, and Georgia. In addition, the community will feature a community clubhouse with outdoor pools, tennis courts, playgrounds, and walking trails.Homes vary in size from a little over 3100 square feet to over 5100 square feet, and include top-name brand products and fixtures such as Bose, Kohler, and Andersen. And since Toll Brothers is the only public home builder to win all three of the most coveted awards in the home building industry – America’s Best Builder, National Builder of the Year and the 1995 National Housing Quality Gold Award why wouldn’t you make them your builder of choice for your new Atlanta-area home?

No matter how hot the weather may get during your summer visit to Atlanta, Georgia, you’ll always find something cool at the Georgia Aquarium. The aquarium is now better now than ever with the recently reopened Cold Water Quest gallery, featuring beluga whales, harbor seals, and a completely new African penguin exhibit. If you’re lucky enough to come during feeding time, you can watch the animals go crazy for the specially-designed “clam cannons.”Exhibits like the River Scout and the Tropical Diver are also present, along with Ocean Voyager and Georgia Explorer. More than eight million gallons of water is divided among these six exhibits, meaning there’s always something new to discover even in old favorites. Make sure you start with the limited time Planet Shark exhibit, featuring full-scale models, a stunning collection of teeth, and items from the set of Jaws. Later, don’t be afraid to get your feet (or more) wet in the Georgia Explorer’s interactive touch pools, featuring horseshoe crabs, sea stars, and shrimp. If your hotel has wireless internet, make sure you stop by the website georgiaaquarium.org before your trip to plan your visit. There, you can schedule behind the scenes tours for your family, including trips to the animals’ Veterinary Clinic and to the top of Ocean Voyager, with a great view of the gigantic whale shark. Get even closer by scheduling a swim or sleepover for families, groups, or adults.

Each year Forbes magazine ranks the top ten most wired cities in America. This year, Atlanta ranked 2nd in the nation for most access and availability to wireless internet, which is great news if you’re planning on spending any time here. No matter where you are or why you need to be online, chances are you won’t have trouble connecting to the internet. Atlanta is also staying steady, maintaining its number 2 spot from last year. Though it ranked number 2 overall, Forbes uses a variety of categories to determine these rankings. One of these qualifications is broadband adoption. This category measures what percentage people with home internet have-speed connections. For this, Atlanta was the top city in the nation coming in at number one! Another measure of a cities wireless success is the number of Wi-Fi hotspots per capita throughout the area. Atlanta ranked number two in this category. One area where Atlanta ranked a bit lower on the list was in access options. This is a measure of how many companies provide high speed internet, and Atlanta was 16 in this category. Companies such as Cox Communications, BellSouth and EarthLink are all headquartered in Atlanta and contribute to the cities strong presence of wireless internet. The advantages of living in a city with abundant internet access are endless. This is usually an indicator of a strong and growing job market as growing companies typically utilize high-speed wireless internet. There are most likely a number of internet providers to choose from so you can find the best product for you and your family. Being a leader in wireless Internet, Atlanta is probably doing a great job of staying up to date on the latest Internet advancements, one of which is 4G wireless. This is the new and improved version of 3G and comes with higher data rates and faster downloading times. If you’re looking for better Internet, 4G is the latest innovation.

Both Vampire Diaries and Past Life have been shooting there, proving the city is equally adept at playing both the Big Apple and the sultry southern small town.Vampire Diaries is a teenaged version of the hit HBO show True Blood. Like its predecessor, Vampire Diaries is also based on a book series by L. J. Smith. It’s a familiar premisehuman girl Elena Gilbert falls for vamp Stefan Salvatorebut under developer Kevin Williamson’s wing, it became a story about the dark secrets of a small town. Fans in Atlanta can visit many of the series’s locales, including Covington and other communities.Past Life is a drama about detectives investigating how who you were affects who you become. Based off of the book “The Reincarnationist,” the show follows Dr. Kate McGinn, who experienced flashes of her own past life and now dedicates her life to helping others. She is paired with grizzled homicide detective Price Whatley. Though the series is set in New York City, it is filmed in the streets of Atlanta.Tourists will get a kick out of seeing the sights of their favorite shows, but locals can also get in on the fun by auditioning for walk-on roles. Visitors can also visit other sites from popular films such as Driving Miss Daisy and Sweet Home Alabama.
