Atlanta Time Machine

imagine, in a city like Atlanta, where city streets and landscapes change on a weekly, monthly, and yearly basis, to be able to compare now-and-then photos of Atlanta through the decades…

well, you actually can. There’s a remarkably cool site named Atlanta Time Machine that allows users to search through seemingly thousands of neighborhoods, commercial buildings, and miscellaneous locations to compare photos of what it used to look like - compared to now.

There are some really amazing comparisons.. for example:

The Heart of Buckhead

Moe’s & Joe’s

and Midtown Atlanta

I actually used to live in the Peachtree Hills Apartments featured on their Apartments page as well.. (they’re about to get knocked down for a new big development)

either way, be sure to keep track of time when you visit this site, as you’ll quickly find yourself surfing around for hours before you realize it : )

This is Greg Germani from the Atlanta Time Machine site. Just wanted to thank you for the kind words about my site. It’s always great to get good feedback from someone else who’s fascinated with the contrast between Atlanta’s past and present. One of these days I’ll get around to updating the LINKS portion of my site and when I do I’ll be sure to include a link to the Atlanta Walkabout site. Thanks again.
